The Alzheimer Café and other Information

The first Alzheimer Café (AC) was started by Dr. Bère Miesen in the Netherlands in 1997.

Gemma Jones and Kandy Redwood co-founded the first UK Alzheimer Café in Farnborough in 2000. Gemma is the current chair of the Charity CIO (‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’, no. 1165335).

The Alzheimer Café UK is a small independent CIO (‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’, no. 1165335), which was established in 2008 to support the original Alzheimer Café in the UK, and to help other Alzheimer Cafes to set up according to the original model.

Their website provides information about what an Alzheimer Café is (AC), who they’re for, what happens at them, how ACs started, the first AC in the UK, current ACs in the UK, related information and references and how to start one.
