The Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 and other Information<\/strong>

The first Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 (AC) was started by Dr. B\u00e8re Miesen in the Netherlands in 1997.

Gemma Jones and Kandy Redwood co-founded the first UK Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 in Farnborough in 2000. Gemma is the current chair of the Charity CIO (‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’, no. 1165335).

The Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 UK is a small independent CIO (‘Charitable Incorporated Organisation’, no. 1165335), which was established in 2008 to support the original Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 in the UK, and to help other Alzheimer Cafes to set up according to the original model.


Their website provides information about what an Alzheimer Caf\u00e9 is (AC), who they\u2019re for, what happens at them, how ACs started, the first AC in the UK, current ACs in the UK, related information and references and how to start one.
